About Me

Joshua Ichiriu is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Arts and Entertainment Technologies, with a minor in Business and a Certificate in Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation. With a deep passion for sports, digital media, and marketing, he has worked on sports content creation, athlete branding, and marketing strategies. His experience includes assisting NBA veteran Jeremy Lin with training content, social media engagement, and merchandise fulfillment, as well as leading digital marketing campaigns that have garnered over 1.5 million views. As a dedicated Golden State Warriors fan, he is inspired and passionate to create digital content for the team . This portfolio showcases his sports media projects, internship content creation expertise, and passion for merging technology with the sports industry.

Warriors Wave

I currently brainstorm, edit, and produce Golden State Warriors player edits and content for @warriorswave, crafting narrative-driven content for YouTube Shorts that highlights the team. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, I implement editing techniques I learned at Fox Sports such as motion graphics and strategic storytelling to capture the storylines of Warriors basketball. Focused on fan engagement, I tailor content to resonate with NBA fans, incorporating trending audio, stats, and popular secnes and moments to gain over 450,000 views on my content.

Jeremy Lin

During the summers of 2021 and 2022, I had the opportunity to assist NBA veteran Jeremy Lin in his training as he prepared for his seasons in China. My role involved recording and analyzing workouts, handling merchandise logistics, and providing on-court support during practice sessions and pickup games.

 

These workouts often included NBA players (Jordan Poole), coaches (Aaron Miles), and renowned sports photographers (@jsquared), exposing me to the professional basketball environment and the level of preparation required at the highest level. Through this experience, I developed strong attention to detail in filming and content creation, ensuring that workouts were recorded for performance analysis and social media highlights.

Beyond training, I gained firsthand experience in sports marketing and digital engagement. Jeremy’s team leveraged Instagram, TikTok, and live workout streams to maintain a strong connection with his fanbase, especially in China. I saw the impact of consistent, trend-driven content and how athletes use social media to sustain engagement, promote products, and build their brand.

Fox Sports

During my time as a Digital Screening Intern at Fox Sports, I played a key role in creating engaging digital content for major broadcasts on the Big Ten Network, FS1, and FS2. My work included crafting compelling game highlights, player spotlights, and short-form edits designed to enhance audience engagement.

Through this experience, I developed strong skills in video editing, content strategy, and digital media production, utilizing industry-standard software such as Wildmoka, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Google IAS, and Media Cloud. One of my most impactful projects was editing a Bronny James highlight reel, which garnered over 300,000 views, demonstrating my ability to produce high-quality content that resonates with sports fans.

 

Additionally, I designed eye-catching thumbnails and curated trending mobile alerts, strengthening my expertise in audience engagement and digital storytelling. This role provided hands-on experience in a fast-paced sports media environment, reinforcing my ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments, collaborate with a team, and contribute to high-profile projects.

Chegg Internship

During my internship at Chegg, I led a successful TikTok marketing campaign aimed at engaging college students and young professionals, a key demographic for sports and entertainment brands like the Golden State Warriors. Managing every aspect of the campaign—from pitching creative ideas to senior leadership to producing, editing, and distributing content—I was able to craft engaging digital experiences that drove over 1.5 million views. This experience has equipped me with the ability to analyze audience behavior, create compelling content, and drive engagement, skills that directly align with the Warriors’ focus on fan engagement and digital marketing.

Additionally, I collaborated with musicians and artists to launch a 24/7 Lofi Beats livestream on Chegg’s YouTube channel, overseeing artist outreach, budgeting, and music production. This required technical expertise with OBS Studio and YouTube Live, as well as a strategic mindset to grow and maintain an engaged digital audience. These experiences have strengthened my ability to leverage content strategy, digital platforms, and live streaming technology—valuable assets in enhancing the Warriors' digital presence, in-game experiences, and community engagement initiatives.

What I'm exctied for this role

I’m especially excited about the Arena Tour and the Speaker Series because they both offer unique opportunities to deepen my understanding of the Golden State Warriors organization and the broader sports industry. Walking through the Chase Center and seeing firsthand how different departments come together to create an unparalleled fan experience will give me a tangible sense of the energy and innovation that drive the franchise. It’s one thing to read about the impact of venue operations and digital media in sports—it’s another to step into the space where it all happens. The Speaker Series is equally exciting because hearing directly from industry leaders will provide invaluable insights into the strategies and decision-making that shape the Warriors’ success. Whether it's learning about cutting-edge fan engagement tactics or understanding the business of sports from executives, I’m eager to absorb knowledge that will help me contribute meaningfully during the internship and beyond.
